US Approves $4.5 Billion Sale of Apache Helicopters and Missiles to Morocco

The United States Department of State has given Morocco the green light to acquire Apache AH-64 attack helicopters as well as several associated equipment including advanced "Hellfire and Stinger" missiles.
In total, the U.S. State Department has authorized the sale of 36 Apache AH-64 attack helicopters to Morocco in addition to equipment and missiles.
It is "551 new optional AGM-114R Hellfire missiles and 200 AIM-92H Stinger missiles, as well as 558 advanced precision kill weapon system (APKWS) kits and a variety of related equipment, support and training, and logistics," the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement.
By authorizing this sale, the United States intends to improve the security of a major (non-NATO) ally. For the DSCA, Morocco is a major force for political stability and economic progress in North Africa.
