Appeal Trial Delayed in 2007 Moroccan Beach Death Case, Mother Seeks Answers

13 years after the tragic disappearance of the young Thami Bennani, found dead on a beach in Mohammedia, the appeal trial of the 3 accused, prosecuted for non-denunciation of a crime and involuntary manslaughter, was adjourned to July 17.
The facts date back to 2007, when the body of the young man had been discovered by a farmer while plowing his field. The victim had been buried there by his friends, following a drug overdose.
The body had then been placed in the morgue under X, based on the medical examiner’s report which had confirmed the death by overdose, then buried a few years later without being able to be identified.
But it was without counting on the determination of the mother, who had allowed the investigators, 12 years later, to confound the 3 accused by new evidence. They had been placed in pre-trial detention pending their appearance before the judge. They are summoned again next week to explain themselves and finally, for the mother, to know the truth.
