Marrakech Installs $1.1 Million Security System at Iconic Jemaa El Fna Square
The public company Al Omrane Marrakech-Safi has just awarded the market for the installation of the access control system to Jemaa El Fna Square, for an amount of 11.1 million dirhams, to the company Alomra Group International.
Alomra Group International is the sole bidder for this contract and has submitted "the lowest bid," the minutes state, noting that according to the preliminary estimate, the work should cost 9.4 million dirhams.
The contract provides for the installation of retractable bollards at the main access points, namely: the Prince Moulay Rachid passage, Bani Marine Street, Moulay Ismail Street, Jemaa El Fna Avenue and Koutoubia Street, reports Médias24.
The system will also be installed at secondary access points such as Bab Fetouh, Souk Essammarine, Riad Zitoune El Jdid Street, Sidi Boulabada Street, Riad Zitoune Lakdim Street and Kennaria Street.
This system aims to strengthen access control to these areas and ensure better traffic management and security around Jemaa El Fna Square. The work is scheduled to last four months.
