US and Morocco Launch ’African Lion 2025’ Joint Military Exercises

The official launch ceremony of African Lion 2025, the military exercises jointly organized by the Moroccan and American Armed Forces, took place on Monday at the headquarters of the Southern Zone General Staff in Agadir. This 21st edition starts on May 14 and ends on May 23.
This ceremony was co-chaired by Major General Mohammed Benlouali, Chief of Staff of the Southern Zone, and Brigadier General Brian Cedeman, Deputy Commander of SETAF-AFRICA. The "African Lion" Exercise demonstrates the strength of cooperation between the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) of Morocco, the US Armed Forces, and the participating countries, Mohammed Benlouali stated on the occasion.
These military maneuvers are "a truly remarkable event that demonstrates the significant value of this training and the growing strength of our partnerships," said Brigadier General Brian Cedeman. The high-ranking American officer added that "each of us is committed to promoting peace, prosperity, and security in the region and around the world."
Participants in this 21st edition of African Lion will engage in operational exercises, planning, and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) decontamination, as well as joint maneuvers. Parallel humanitarian and social actions are also planned.
African Lion 2025 will take place in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguérir, and Tifnit. It aims to strengthen military cooperation between Morocco and the United States, develop interoperability, enhance the intervention capabilities of participants in a multinational context, and contribute to promoting security, peace, and stability in the region.
