US and Morocco to Host Largest African Military Exercise ’African Lion’ in May 2024

The 2024 edition of African Lion, the military maneuvers jointly organized by Morocco and the United States, will take place from May 20 to 31 in several cities of the kingdom.
According to the royal high instructions, the twentieth edition of African Lion will be held from May 20 to 31, 2024 in Benguérir, Agadir, Tan-Tan, Akka and Tifnit, indicates the general staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in a press release. Some 7,000 soldiers from about twenty countries and NATO will take an active part in these military maneuvers.
Many activities will enrich this edition. Participants will have the right to tactical, land, maritime and air exercises, combined, day and night, a special forces exercise, airborne operations, as well as an operational planning exercise for the "Task Force" staff officers, details the note.
African Lion 2024 also includes academic training, training in the fight against weapons of mass destruction, medical-surgical and social services provided by a military field hospital for the benefit of the population of the Akka region, it is specified.
African Lion is the largest military exercise carried out on the continent. A sign of the good Moroccan-American cooperation, it aims to contribute to strengthening operational, technical and procedural interoperability between the participating armies, particularly in terms of joint combined arms training and exercise, concludes the note.
