EU and AU Back Morocco’s UN Call for Global COVID-19 Response

The European Union and the African Union are supporting Morocco, whose permanent representative to the UN, Omar Hilale, launched on Saturday, June 11 in New York, a "call to action to support the humanitarian response in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic".
Thanks to these two organizations, 173 delegations representing almost all UN members are supporting Morocco’s humanitarian appeal, reports the MAP. All of which testify to the consensus that has emerged around the approach of the Kingdom, which aims to unify and coordinate the action of the United Nations to counter the coronavirus.
On Saturday, Ambassador Omar Hilale, who is also President of the Humanitarian Affairs Segment of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), launched a humanitarian appeal in the fight against Covid-19. For the Moroccan diplomat, "this is not just another document on the Covid-19 pandemic, but a call to action, because the international community must act now and collectively".
Concretely, Morocco is calling on states to take practical actions, in particular to facilitate access, passage and movement of humanitarian aid, medical and health personnel, and equipment.
