Alleged Drug Kingpin Reda ’Turbo’ Abakrim’s Murder Trial Postponed Again

The trial of the alleged drug baron, Reda Abakrim, alias Turbo, for the murder of Brahim Hajjaji committed in France in 2007 has been postponed again. He is also the main suspect in the murder of the husband of singer Rym Fikri.
The postponement of the trial is motivated by the wish of the criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal of Casablanca to have Reda Abakrim, 40 years old, appear. At this ninth hearing, the defense of the alleged drug baron made available to the court the prisoner’s registration number in order to achieve this, reports H24info. Arrested on December 22, 2020 at Casablanca airport on his way from Dubai after 13 years on the run, then prosecuted in Morocco for "participation in a kidnapping, sequestration and voluntary homicide" in the context of the Brahim Hajaji murder case in France in 2007, "Turbo" had been acquitted on April 18, 2023 by the criminal chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal to the surprise of Mohamed Aghanaj, lawyer for the victim’s family. The latter had appealed.
Since the assassination in 2007 in a housing estate in Poissy (Yvelines, Paris region) of Brahim Hajjaji, for which he is suspected, Reda Abakrim has been on the run. In June 2020, the Versailles Assize Court, near Paris, had sentenced this man, actively sought by the French Office for the Suppression of Drug Trafficking (Ofast) as the main suspect in Hajaji’s murder, to 21 years of criminal imprisonment.
Considered one of the biggest cannabis traffickers from Morocco to France, "Turbo" is currently in detention for his alleged involvement in the murder of Rym Fikri’s husband. The latter had been kidnapped on February 8 near his home in Casablanca by individuals who were on board an all-terrain vehicle. He will be murdered and his body will be found in the bed of a river near Rabat.
