Algerian Woman Loses Agricultural Land in Morocco Due to Foreign Ownership Law

An Algerian woman has been deprived of an agricultural land she was exploiting in the area of competence of the land registry service in Berkane.
Karma Kheira, of Algerian nationality, is no longer the owner of the agricultural land she was exploiting in the commune of Madagh, sector of Dam from 24 to 26. In accordance with the Dahir having the force of law number 1.73.213 published on 26 Muharram 1393 (March 2, 1973) which transfers to the State the ownership of agricultural lands or lands likely to be agricultural belonging to foreign natural persons or legal entities, as amended and supplemented, in particular its article 2, this land with an area of one hectare, 9 ares and 70 centiares has been recovered, reports the site Al3omk.
A joint order of the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Economy and Finance number 2940.23 allocates common rights on this agricultural property to the Moroccan State. The taking of possession of the land should be effective from the publication of the order. The document was published in the latest issue of the Official Bulletin on 9 Jumada al-Awwal 1445 (November 23, 2023).
