Algerian Singer Faudel Sparks Controversy with Song for Moroccan King

Algerian singer Faudel spoke about his privileged relations with Morocco and King Mohammed VI, regretting that Algerian artists encounter many problems in their country because of their love for the kingdom.
Speaking on Tuesday on the occasion of the release of his new album entitled "Choukrane" (Thank you in Arabic), a song he dedicated to King Mohammed VI, Faudel said that his intention in composing this song was not to arouse the anger of Algerians, but rather to thank Morocco and its king for the welcome and all the privileges he has enjoyed.
"I came to Morocco 10 years ago, my wife is Moroccan, my children are Moroccan and I have Moroccan nationality and identity card," he explained. Faudel also said he does not get involved in the political disputes between the two countries, denouncing the hate speech and discord maintained by activists on social networks. "Morocco is renowned for its welcome and integration of people of diverse nationalities," he said.
