Algerian Raï Star Cheb Khaled to Perform in Morocco Amid Homeland Boycott

The icon of Algerian raï, Cheb Khaled, will find his Moroccan audience at the "Fun" festival in Casablanca from October 3 to 5. The king of raï is boycotted in Algeria.
This event, which will bring together many Moroccan and Arab artists, will see the singer, who also holds Moroccan nationality, share the stage with the group Nass El Ghiwane during the opening night. The festival will also offer comedy shows and a closing evening with the singers Ahmed Saad and Joseph Attieh.
Accused of being a "traitor" because of his statements on Morocco and his ties with the Moroccan authorities, in this case King Mohammed VI, Cheb Khaled is trying to reconcile with the Algerian people.
"I remain Algerian, and if I have offended anyone, it was not intentional... I apologize to everyone," he said in a video posted on social networks last February, addressing his compatriots who have since accused him of denying his origins and his homeland in favor of Morocco, whose interests he favors. He will add that he will remain Algerian, no matter what: "No one can uproot me from my homeland, whatever happens. We are all brothers and may God have mercy on the martyrs."
Tickets for this event, part of the proceeds of which will be donated to the "SOS Village" association, are available from 900 dirhams.
