Algerian Officials Signal Thaw in Morocco Relations Over Western Sahara Dispute

The declaration on the Moroccanness of the Sahara by the former leader of the Algerian National Liberation Front as well as the remarks of the first President of the Supreme Court of Algeria, Abderrachid Tabi, during the 2nd session of the International Congress of Justice, in Marrakech, confirm a change of tone on the part of the Algerian authorities.
Tabi believes that despite the "tragic tribulations", the reunion between the two peoples is inevitable because the religious, cultural and linguistic ties, as well as the common destiny of Morocco and Algeria have shaped the mutual feelings of brotherhood, and "have become materially and spiritually inseparable".
The Head of the Algerian delegation expressed his refusal of the pain inflicted on the two peoples, specifying "that the soul-mates aspire to meet again, to strengthen the bonds of affection and the relations of compassion, and to restore the paths of communication and solidarity".
Tabi also took the opportunity to express his gratitude for the warm welcome, the sense of hospitality and the benevolent care that his delegation received during this international congress, underlining in passing "the spirit of brotherhood that will mark the two peoples for eternity".
