Algerian Diplomat Assaults Moroccan Official at Tokyo Conference over Western Sahara Dispute

On the sidelines of the preparatory meeting for the 9th edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) taking place in Japan, an Algerian diplomat violently attacked a Moroccan official over a "Sahrawi Republic" plaque.

In a video, we see a man who violently grabs the Moroccan and throws him to the ground. Sanctioned, the Algerian diplomat should no longer participate in the work of the TICAD meeting taking place on August 24 and 25.
On Friday, members of the separatist movement arrived in Tokyo with Algerian diplomatic passports and infiltrated the meeting room where the preparatory meeting for the 9th edition of TICAD is taking place with badges from the Algerian delegation. One of them "opened his briefcase and took out a plaque marked ’Sahrawi Republic’ which he placed in front of him. Except that the typography of the plaque in no way resembles that of the countries invited to this meeting. Immediately, a Japanese official provided clarifications: ’The presence of this entity in no way means recognition’ and Japan ’does not recognize this entity’.
