Algerian Army Allegedly Kills 3 Moroccan Smugglers Near Border Town

Three Moroccan "smugglers" from the same family would have been shot dead near Figuig by elements of the Algerian army.
The incident took place in Maadar El Kabch, not far from Figuig, an oasis on the border between Morocco and Algeria. Elements of the Algerian army would have opened fire on three Moroccan smugglers after their arrival on Algerian territory, via the border town of Jenbia, about 20 kilometers away, to transport the goods, reports Barlamane.

In 2021, the Algerian authorities had given a one-month notice to Moroccan farmers and private landowners to evacuate the date palm plantations located in the locality of El Arja, Figuig province, located near the border between Morocco and Algeria. Lands that belong to the ancestors of the inhabitants of Figuig. To relieve the victims of this spoliation, the Moroccan state had granted them financial and material assistance.
