Algeria sees red in the face of the Morocco-UAE-Israel "trio"

In Algeria’s eyes, the Moroccan-Emirati-Israeli alliance is acting against its interests in African countries located in the Sahel region, including Mali and Niger. This is revealed in a British intelligence report.

The British intelligence report produced by the company "Menas Associates", specialized in strategic and political analysis, indicates that Algeria accuses the United Arab Emirates, in addition to Israel, of allying with Morocco against it, on a number of files, including that of the Sahara. According to this report, what Algiers calls the "Moroccan-Emirati-Israeli alliance" is acting against its interests in African countries located in the Sahel region. This is enough to make Algeria fear the repercussions of the unrest in the region on its southern borders with Niger and Mali.

In addition to the accusations it makes against Morocco, Algeria has entered into competition with the kingdom on the African continent, particularly with regard to projects in several countries, the most notable of which is the gas pipeline project with Nigeria, the report reveals. Its wish is to build a gas pipeline from Nigeria via Niger to its territory, in opposition to the Moroccan project which starts from Nigeria and crosses 11 countries in West Africa to Morocco. Except that Abuja is only interested in Rabat. This annoys Algiers. Algeria is "furious at Nigeria’s clear preference for the Nigerian-Moroccan Gas Pipeline (NMGP) project over the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project," the same report points out, noting that Algiers has asked South Africa to intervene on its behalf with Abuja to change its mind.

One of the factors explaining Nigeria’s choice. According to the British report, Nigeria finances half of the project, while Morocco finances the other half, while Algeria is the one who fully finances the project. Another factor: stability and security. The Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project crosses countries that are not experiencing security unrest, unlike the Algerian project which crosses an unstable desert region, in Niger and on the southern borders of Algeria.

According to the report, Algeria accuses the United Arab Emirates of refusing to reveal the funds that were transferred to it by Algerian personalities belonging to the Abdelaziz Bouteflika regime, and to provide it with information on sums of money reaching $300 million that they would be hiding. For Algeria, the Emirates are trying to "destabilize" it through their investments in the country. Abu Dhabi would seek to control the ruling political class in Algeria.
