Algeria Fuels Tensions in Western Sahara with $500 Million Aid to Polisario Front

Despite the injunctions of the United Nations Council, the Polisario front continues to provoke controversy by attracting followers to its project of building an administrative complex at the level of the buffer zone of Tifariti.
To this end, the Algerian government, under the impetus of its new president Abdelmajid Tebboune, has released financial aid of more than $500 million in favor of the RASD, in order to be able to move its headquarters.
Well known for his hostility to Morocco and his resounding outbursts, the Algerian president risks, according to the site Akhbarona, pushing the region towards a regional war with disastrous consequences.
The many provocations of the Polisario members, still jubilant at the birth of the "Peace for the Sahrawi People" group, to which about a hundred European parliamentarians have adhered, had not been enough to stoke Moroccan anger.
By transgressing the recommendations of the Security Council, and by providing the front with colossal financial means, Algeria risks pushing Morocco into a devastating war, likely to destabilize peace in the region, writes the same source.
