Algeria Arrests 25 Migrants, Including 24 Moroccans, in Human Trafficking Crackdown

Elements of the National Gendarmerie of Mostaganem (Algeria) arrested 25 migrants, including 24 of Moroccan nationality.
The elements of the National Gendarmerie arrested "25 individuals, including 24 of Moroccan nationality for the constitution of a criminal association, the offense of human trafficking, the offense of taking measures for clandestine immigration by sea for several individuals with the aim of obtaining a pecuniary profit, as well as the offense of harboring foreigners without a residence permit," said a statement from the Algerian gendarmerie relayed by Le Soir d’Algérie.
"As part of the fight against crime in all its forms, based on confirmed information and in-depth investigations, the elements of the territorial units of the GN of Mostaganem dismantled an international network of clandestine immigration by sea whose sponsors are based in Morocco," explains the note.
The operation allowed the seizure of "3 boats, two engines, a utility vehicle, two GPS systems, a compass, 17 cans of gasoline, mobile phones, as well as cash in dinars and foreign currency," the statement concluded.
