Airport Chaos Erupts: Taxi Turf War Threatens Tetouan Tourism

The Sania Rmel airport in Tetouan was the scene of an incident caused by taxi drivers that sparked the discontent of a group of French tourists.
According to witnesses, it all started with some French tourists refusing to pay the unofficial rate of 100 dirhams demanded by a taxi driver to take them from the airport to the city center, preferring the offer of another driver who agreed to transport them for only 50 dirhams, after a quick consultation with several colleagues who saw no problem with it.
But the situation escalated after a driver began to hurl insults and threats in front of the tourists, creating a climate of tension and fear. For professionals in the sector, this incident that occurred in front of tourists gives a negative image of the airport and the transportation services offered there and seriously damages the tourist reputation of the city and the region.
This latest incident reignites the debate on the urgent need for the authorities to regulate the taxi sector and put an end to the chaos that affects the image of the city as a tourist destination.
