Air Arabia Maroc Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Bird Strike Near Tangier

An Air Arabia Maroc plane operating the Tangier-Barcelona route was diverted to Casablanca on Friday after colliding with a bird in mid-flight.
The plane, an Airbus A320-200, was forced to land at Casablanca airport following a collision with a bird at around 3,000 m altitude, informs the specialized website Aviation Herald, specifying that the aircraft landed without incident.
No human or material damage was recorded following the collision. But as a precaution, Air Arabia Maroc proceeded to replace the plane. The passengers were able to reach their final destination, Barcelona, with six and a half hours delay.
On Saturday, a disaster was narrowly averted. A Royal Air Maroc (RAM) plane connecting Casablanca to Monrovia went off the runway at Monrovia airport due to heavy rains. No damage was noted.
"Monrovia airport is located in a wetland, near a lake. In addition, the weather conditions were quite difficult this Saturday morning, making the runway grip a little more precarious than usual," explained the Moroccan company. An investigation has been opened.
