Air Arabia Launches New Moroccan Hub with Flights to 5 European Cities

Air Arabia inaugurated its new base at Saniat R’mel Airport in Tetouan on Tuesday. The airline will operate 13 flights to five European destinations from this airport.

During the inauguration ceremony, Laila Mechbal, CEO of Air Arabia Morocco, emphasized the importance of this new base, the company’s sixth in the kingdom. The new Air Arabia base will allow the launch of 13 direct flights to five European destinations: Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Brussels.

Youssef Bennani, Director of the Marketing and Commercial Division at the National Airports Office (ONDA), welcomed the opening of this new Air Arabia base, which will strengthen the reception capacity of Saniat R’mel Airport, which recorded the arrival of 253,552 passengers in 2023, an increase of 35% compared to the previous year.

This new base "will have a positive impact on the tourism and commercial markets of the province," assured Moncef Al-Toub, President of the Provincial Tourism Council of Tetouan, stressing that the new links to European cities will inject new dynamism into the local economy.

Several airlines serve Saniat R’mel Airport. These include Royal Air Maroc, which operates flights to Casablanca and Al Hoceima; Ryanair, which connects Malaga, Alicante, Madrid, Marseille, Seville, Charleroi; Tui Fly, which operates to Brussels; Air Arabia with its flights to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Brussels and soon Amsterdam; and Air Nostrum, which connects Malaga during the high season.
