An Air Arabia airline plane that departed from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Nador in northern Morocco was forced to turn back due to an engine problem.
The aircraft had just taken off from Schiphol airport on Tuesday evening when flames erupted from the engine. Several passengers witnessed the scene and even filmed the incident.
The pilot of the Airbus A320 immediately turned back and landed 45 minutes after takeoff in Amsterdam.
The right engine of the aircraft was severely damaged, probably due to a collision with birds. No information is given on the fate of the passengers.
The incident is confirmed by the Flight Radar website:
