Air Arabia Faces Backlash Over Flight Cancellations and Compensation Refusal

A second flight has just been canceled at the last minute by the airline, Air Arabia. It also refuses to compensate passengers, on the grounds that this clause of international aviation law does not apply to flights to or from Morocco.
While a first flight between Tangier and Amsterdam had been canceled last week, Tanja24 reports that another flight from Brussels has just been delayed by 20 hours by Air Arabia.
According to international aviation regulations, passengers are entitled to compensation in the event of a delay, change or cancellation of a flight by an airline. The amount of compensation is determined based on the distance of the flight.
The regulations specify that a compensation of 250 euros is granted to passengers in the case of a short-haul flight, 400 euros for a medium-haul flight (between 1,500 and 3,500 km), and finally 600 euros for one over 3,500 km. Other costs are also provided for by law, in particular those of meals and hotel stays, if necessary.
In the case of the Air Arabia flight, passengers were directed to the company’s website. It is mentioned there that compensation cannot be made in cash but through the granting of a credit balance that can only be used to purchase airline tickets.
