Agadir Unveils Ambitious Tourism Recovery Plan to Boost Flights and Hotels

A Marshall emergency plan has been unveiled by tourism professionals in Agadir-Souss-Massa to revive the sector in the Kingdom. The intensification of domestic flights, the creation of small hotel management groups, among others, are part of it.
This emergency Marshall plan was presented last Tuesday to the Minister of Tourism, Nadia Fettah Alaoui. It includes the implementation of a subsidized foreign flight plan with Royal Air Maroc and foreign companies, the intensification of domestic flights with convenient time slots.
It also includes the launch of a large-scale program for the upgrading of distressed hotels, through the creation of small hotel management groups, as well as the creation of an exhibition park for sporting, cultural, artistic, technological, commercial, agricultural and maritime events.
The return of flights with the main source markets (France, Germany, Belgium, England), the implementation of a health corridor by a professional medical structure, taking into account the entire tourist circuit of the client, from the airport to the hotel, are some of the recommendations made to revive this sector weakened by the coronavirus crisis.
It should be noted that in Agadir, tourism alone accounts for 1,100,000 clients, 120,000 jobs, 5.9 billion dirhams in annual turnover, or 8% of the total generated throughout the Kingdom. Thus, this short and medium-term emergency plan must benefit from an information and awareness campaign to reassure clients and travel wholesalers.
