Agadir Police Inspector Jailed for Issuing False Residence Certificate

The Court of Appeal of Agadir has sentenced a police inspector to a 5-month prison sentence with a fine of 1,000 dirhams. The accused was found guilty of active corruption, abuse of power, forgery and use of forgery.
According to the results of the judicial investigation, the civil servant had delivered a false certificate of residence to two individuals who wanted to renew their national identity card. The defendant had received a sum of money in exchange.
Out of the 4 charges brought, the court only retained the issuance of a false certificate. The offenses of corruption and falsification of a state stamp and an official document were dismissed.
The trial ended with the conviction of a second defendant to 3 months in prison and a fine of 300 dirhams. The individual was not found guilty of the offense of fraud.
