Aftershocks Continue in Marrakech Region Months After Major Earthquake

Several seismic shocks of a magnitude up to 3.7 on the Richter scale hit the Marrakech region yesterday.
The epicenter of this slight earthquake occurred exactly at 12:28 pm in the commune of Ighlil, in the province of Al Haouz, according to local authorities.
"After the September 8 earthquake, it is quite normal to record such slight shocks. You should not worry. This will last for several more months," said the director of the National Geophysics Institute Department, Mr. Nacer Jebbour, adding: "We should be concerned if these shocks do not occur, especially after the earthquake that caused significant material and human damage."
A powerful and devastating earthquake hit Morocco on September 8, killing nearly 3,000 people, injuring more than 5,600 and causing enormous material damage in several regions, mainly rural.
