Adidas to Launch Moroccan Heritage Collection After Jersey Controversy

As part of the agreement with Morocco on the controversial jersey of the Algerian national team, Adidas has agreed to create a collection dedicated to Moroccan heritage.
In a recent statement, Minister of Culture Mohamed Bensaid returned to the case of the Moroccan Zellige used by the brand without its approval and its outcome. According to the explanations, the mea culpa made by the German firm sounds like a victory for Moroccan artisans.
However, he specified, his department did not file a complaint against this brand, but sent correspondence to request explanations on the use of this Moroccan heritage without the approval of the Kingdom.
Discussing the positive resolution found with the sportswear manufacturer, the minister declared: "We asked them to go beyond the apologies by creating a collection that highlights the Moroccan heritage and whose royalties will go to local artisans."
And to add: "This proposal has been accepted by Adidas who has requested a delay until after the World Cup. We set the date of December 8 to resume discussions with the brand in order to put our proposal into practice. The file is currently in the hands of the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts to take over."
