Actor Saïd Taghmaoui Blasts Media Coverage of ’La Haine’ Film Legacy

Saïd Taghmaoui has not digested the fact that Mathieu Kassovitz and Vincent Cassel are highlighted as being the pioneers of a film that owes its success and fame to several generations of men and women living in the ghettos. He made this known through a long message in which he expressed his grievances against Mouloud Achour and Canal+, in rather unflattering terms. "Here is another proof of the colonial mentality, the Africa France Version 2020.

"La Haine", the film that revealed Mathieu Kassovitz and Vincent Cassel. The two petit-bourgeois who come from the projects. There is no longer the black cousin, hub and the Arab Said, nor anyone else for that matter except the two of them," he says mockingly, letting all his anger and disappointment show through. He stated that if "La Haine" has become a cult film, it is thanks "to all those who have lived in discrimination and segregation".

The actor believes that the film is not limited to two actors and that the name of everyone or no one should have been mentioned. "A special dedication to Huber Konde and the entire team who participated in the making of this film and who, unfortunately, have never been revealed," he affirmed, thus denouncing on his page the racism and discrimination so denounced within the French cinema.
