Abramovich’s Superyachts Flee to Morocco, Evading Sanctions

Two superyachts belonging to Roman Abramovich, who is subject to European sanctions (freezing of assets, seizure of ships and private jets belonging to him) like other Russian oligarchs, are seeking refuge in Morocco. The Russian billionaire fears a new seizure.
Halo with spectacular dimensions and Garcon are the two superyachts belonging to Roman Abramovich that have set sail from Antigua with Morocco as their destination. Halo will have to dock at the port of Agadir while Garcon will arrive at the port of Casablanca, report Le Desk and Autoevolution. Two ports that welcome ships traveling together, "which is to say the least unconventional".

Antigua held these two superyachts following a request made by the British government, the independent archipelago member of the Commonwealth. The British media The Observer had just determined that the two vessels were owned by Wenham Overseas Ltd, a company based in the British Virgin Islands whose ultimate beneficiary was only Abramovich. But Antigua had not seized the two ships because the country had no sanctions laws or grounds to do so.
Halo and Garcon were registered under the Bermuda flag. Now, the two ships are sailing in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean under the flag of the Cook Islands, the re-registration having taken place just before their departure, it is specified.
