Abandoned Social Housing Project in Mohammedia Sparks Calls for Action

The local office of the Federation of the Democratic Left (FGD) in Mohammedia is calling for the intervention of the authorities regarding a hundred social housing units abandoned in the El Bradaa neighborhood.
Built in 2015 to rehouse families living in slums, these apartments are the result of an agreement between the Samir company and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
Despite the completion of the work eight years ago, the housing units remain unoccupied. The FGD points to administrative delays regarding the subdivision of the land, land registration, and connection to water, electricity and sanitation networks.
In a letter addressed to the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region and the Governor of the prefecture of Mohammedia, the party denounces a missed opportunity to improve the living conditions of many families, also expressing concern about the gradual deterioration of these abandoned housing units.
The party calls for swift action to distribute these apartments to the beneficiaries and thus eliminate the slums of the city, the initial objective of the project.
