World War I-Era Shipwrecks Discovered Off Moroccan Coast

The wrecks of nine ships from the World War I era have been found off the coast of Morocco, announced the Moroccan Association of Maritime Heritage (AMPM).
Among these vessels found off the southern coast of Morocco are passenger ships from Japan, Norway, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Italy. According to the AMPM, these ships would have sunk during the submarine attack carried out by Germany against its enemies during the First World War.
The association has transmitted to the National Committee for Coordination in Hydrography, Oceanography and Maritime Cartography the preliminary coordinates of these wrecks as well as a detailed report on the history and characteristics of each ship, with a view to preserving these historical sites and continuing the research.
It should be recalled that two historic wrecks were discovered near the city of El Jadida, announced the Moroccan National Center for Research in January. One was found near the urban beach, and the other at the entrance to the port.
