World Cup: Oise Bans Public Alcohol Sales Amid Match Security Concerns

Fearing disturbances, the prefect of the Oise, Corinne Orzechowski, has banned the sale and consumption of alcohol on public roads during this World Cup weekend, where the Croatia-Morocco and Argentina-France matches are scheduled.
The Morocco-Croatia match for the third place final, scheduled for this Saturday and the match between France and Argentina for the grand final scheduled for Sunday "are likely to give rise to several demonstrations likely to create material disorder and seriously undermine the safety of people," estimates the prefecture of the Oise which is playing the prevention card.
The decree banning the sale and consumption of alcohol on public roads during this World Cup weekend applies from Saturday, December 17 to Sunday, December 18 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. In detail, the ban concerns the distribution, transport, sale, purchase and use of fireworks, hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, fuel, soda, sodium chlorate and denatured alcohols and solvents, reports Actu.fr.
At the national level, 12,840 law enforcement officers will be mobilized throughout the territory during this weekend for the third place final, while 14,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed on the ground for the grand final. At the departmental level, the number of law enforcement officers to be deployed in the Oise is around 300 or 400.
