World Bank Praises Morocco’s Economic Reforms and Development Progress

Morocco has made significant progress in complying with the Doing Business ranking. This was noted in Rabat last Thursday by Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Vice President for the MENA region.
The significant progress made by Morocco in recent years has undoubtedly accelerated its development. For Ferid Belhaj, these efforts "are a source of satisfaction not only for the Kingdom, but also for the entire MENA region."
According to the senior official of the Bretton Woods Institution, Morocco is a model case that should serve as an example because, in his opinion, "it is a country that, thanks to its stability, its political choices and its reforms, has been able to make significant progress in the World Bank’s Doing Business ranking."
Ferid Belhaj also spoke about the elimination of compensation funds, acknowledging that they "no longer have any usefulness" in the entire MENA region. According to him, it is urgent to put in place new mechanisms to assist vulnerable populations, through effective targeting means.
Furthermore, the World Bank Vice President for the MENA region indicated that the Unified Social Registry is a system that allows the State, on the one hand, to scientifically identify people in need of assistance and, on the other hand, to redirect the funds from the Compensation Fund to other vital sectors such as health and education.
