Waiter Shot Dead Over Sandwich Dispute at Paris Suburb Restaurant

Farès, a waiter at the restaurant Le mistral, located in Noisy-le-Grand, was shot dead on Friday, August 16, 2019, for a sandwich. The suspect, a local gang leader accustomed to threats, had time to disappear into thin air.
The loyal customers of this restaurant, located at the entrance of the Arcades shopping center in Noisy-le-Grand, are still in shock. Each one tries to understand the motive for this crime, without succeeding. The versions follow one another but do not resemble each other: the sandwich was not served quickly enough, he wanted another waiter to take care of him, or he would have been used to being fed on the house.
For the newspaper Le Parisien, the inhabitants followed one another in front of Le mistral all day on Monday, August 19, to pay tribute to the deceased. "All that for a sandwich...," laments a mother who stops in front of the business. "We don’t kill for a sandwich!" exclaims a man in discussion with another.
A few meters from the lowered shutter is a warning tape that recalls the drama. A photo of the victim, taken in a boat, with a smiling face, is at the entrance of the restaurant, in several places. A message at the bottom of the photo pays tribute to the deceased: "Tribute to our colleague, son, brother, friend, Farès, killed for a sandwich. Condolences to the family and courage to the team of Le Mistral."
For a father, a regular at the restaurant and close to the victim, the shock is immense. He admits to knowing the deceased, whom he describes as "very friendly and always helpful," reports the same media.
As for the suspect, he would be from Pavé-neuf, right across from the Arcades. He is described as a "gang leader," "well-known to the police," and as a regular with threats. The Judicial Police is on his trail so that he can answer for the crime.
