Undocumented Immigrants March 700km Across France Demanding Regularization

700 kilometers of walking, this is the operation initiated by undocumented immigrants to demand the regularization of their situation in France. Leaving Marseille on Saturday, September 19th, this march is heading to Paris where it is expected on October 17th.
The procession of several hundred people (Algerians, Tunisians, Moroccans, Ecuadorians...) set off from the Cayolle district in Marseille. Over more than 700 km, this initial core of walkers will gradually grow until the Élysée in Paris, the final destination, on October 17th. Five stops are planned at as many major French cities.
The reason for this march is the regularization of the situations of all undocumented immigrants, the closure of administrative detention centers and the implementation of a special program to combat the precariousness in "which they live".
The operation was launched at the call of 15 collectives of undocumented immigrants, the Marche des solidarités, the États généraux des migrations and more than 120 organizations.
Several collectives and organizations that support the movement maintain a certain distance "in order to let those who need it speak," specifies the daily La Provence, adding that "the marchers denounce the absurd and inhumane migration policy of the government and Europe based on a hunt for undocumented immigrants," far from countries like Spain and Portugal which have recently carried out a massive regularization of undocumented immigrants established on their soil.
