Undocumented Immigrant Rescues Two Children from Apartment Fire in France

An Algerian in an irregular situation in France saved two children, aged 12 and 5, from a fire that broke out in an apartment in Mée-sur-Seine, France.
The fire broke out in the apartment located above the Turkish tea room where the hero of Nana Aissatou Zammer’s children was having coffee with his cousin, reports Le Parisien. He rushed to the apartment after hearing the sound of the explosion and seeing the flames on the first floor.
Abdelillah Assaoui accessed the apartment through the downspout pipes. His first reflex was to get the 12-year-old teenager out and then the 5-year-old boy. They were picked up at the bottom by the chain of solidarity that formed. After saving the two children from the fire, the young rescuer then extinguished the fire from the fryer that caused the fire using the café owner’s fire extinguisher.
Alerted, the mother of the two miracle children arrived on the scene. She had entrusted her children to a friend who was supposed to pick them up before going to work. This person, having had an unexpected event, did not honor her commitment. The mother believes she has lived the worst day of her life.
Fully grateful, she has promised to support Abdelillah Assaoui, who has been in an irregular situation in France for 3 years. She plans to inform the local authorities by mail in order to support his request for regularization. According to her, the young undocumented immigrant "deserves to receive this recognition as has happened to other undocumented immigrants".
