Unaccompanied Moroccan Minors Arrested for Tear Gas Attack and Robbery in Montpellier

A Police Assistance squad apprehended four unaccompanied minors from Morocco in the area of Avenue d’Assas. They are accused of having assaulted a 26-year-old woman in downtown Montpellier.
The incident occurred on Rue Foch, between the courthouse of the Court of Appeal and the prefecture of Hérault, around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday. As a woman was walking in this street, four individuals allegedly sprayed her with tear gas and snatched her handbag, reports Midi Libre. After committing their crime, the four unaccompanied minors fled towards the Arceaux area.
Alerted, the emergency services and the public security police arrived at the scene. They found the young woman who was slightly injured and in a state of shock. Thanks to the surveillance cameras, the four alleged assailants were apprehended in the Arceaux neighborhood. They still had the young woman’s bag, but without all its contents.
For now, they have been placed in custody at the central police station in Montpellier.
