Transavia Plans Morocco Routes as Country Eases Border Restrictions

Nearly three months after opening its base at Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport due to Covid-19, Air France’s low-cost subsidiary Transavia has been offering two weekly flights to Tunis-Carthage since July 16, 2020, operated with Boeing 737-800s with 189 seats. Pending the reopening of Moroccan borders, it plans to serve several cities in Morocco.
The low-cost airline Transavia is preparing to serve the cities of Agadir, Marrakech and Oujda in Morocco, subject to the reopening of borders. For the time being, Morocco has partially authorized the reopening of borders.
This exceptional operation aims to allow access to the national territory, from July 15, for Moroccans regardless of their situation (tourists stranded abroad, students, Moroccans living abroad...) and for foreign residents in Morocco who are abroad for any reason whatsoever, as well as their families, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, had specified during a meeting with the local press.
For the French low-cost company, it wants to welcome 500,000 passengers for its first year of operations in Montpellier, notes Air Journal.
