While she was to undergo a second organ transplant, Aya Boumzebra, a 24-year-old student in her fourth year of architecture in Marrakech, hospitalized in Paris in critical condition and in a coma, has died.
Aya Boumzebra has lost her battle against the disease. The 24-year-old student has passed away. A death that has caused a shock wave among her parents, relatives and Internet users. "May your soul rest in peace," dozens of loved ones have written on social media. Among them, Nawal Filali, who expressed her sadness. She had accompanied the family throughout the process and confirmed the tragic outcome of the procedure through a message published on behalf of the association Yallah Nette3awnou, which she runs.
This death of Aya follows an urgent call launched by her family and this association in order to raise the sum of 250,000 euros, to allow her to undergo a second organ transplant in Paris. The 24-year-old student had been admitted to the intensive care unit in room number 11 in critical condition at the Paul-Brousse hospital in Villejuif after a serious deterioration in her health.
Aya had suffered from a liver disease since childhood. She had undergone a successful liver transplant a year ago. But a recent infection disrupted her recovery and led to a medical emergency that required immediate surgical intervention. She was taken care of at the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat, before being transferred to the Paul-Brousse Hospital. Falling into a coma last week, she will not have undergone a second liver transplant as recommended by the specialists at the Paris hospital.
