Tours to Create New Muslim Cemetery Section Amid Space Shortage

The city of Tours is working to address the lack of space in the Muslim sections. A new Muslim section will be created in Tours-Sud.
"In 2023, there should be decisions to create a new Muslim section in Tours-Sud," announced Florent Petit, deputy mayor of Tours in charge of the Tours-Sud district, public services and access to common goods, seized with the problem of space. A real problem. "The Muslim sections are full throughout the metropolis. In Tours there is no more space," the elected official said.
There are two Muslim sections in the city of Tours: one in the Tours-Sud cemetery, with 184 spaces, including 96 for adults and 88 for children, and the other in Saint-Symphorien, composed of 111 spaces with 48 plots for adults and 53 for children. Not to mention the 500 available spaces in the Tours-North cemetery, with graves that "respect the burial criteria" according to Muslim rites - the graves are notably oriented towards Mecca (Saudi Arabia).
