Toulouse Official’s Assault Claim at Union Event Dismissed by Authorities

Samir Hajije, a municipal councilor in Toulouse, claimed to have been "beaten up" last Friday, during a conference organized by the CGT on the struggle of the Sahrawi people. A version that does not seem to be verified, the case having been dismissed.
The incident occurred at the Bourse du Travail in Toulouse, the venue for the CGT conference. According to witnesses, Samir Hajije and about ten people accompanying him would have tried to disrupt this conference, which would have prompted the CGT security service to expel them. The Toulouse councilor, for his part, claimed to have been "beaten up" by CGT members while he was "passing by" in front of the Bourse du Travail. Speaking on X, the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, said that his councilor of Moroccan origin told him that he had been "violently beaten up" after being turned away from a conference organized by the CGT.
This version has not been confirmed by the justice system, which dismissed the case this Sunday. "The videos do not objectify blows inflicted by the CGT stewards who only pushed back someone who resisted and wanted to enter the Bourse du Travail manu militari," the Toulouse prosecutor’s office noted, adding that "the medical certificate does not indicate any injury, other than the consequence of the fall visible on the video." According to La Dépêche, Samir Hajije was only prescribed two days of ITT due to a knee abrasion. The doctor noted "no visible traumatic lesions", even though the Toulouse councilor complained "of elbow pain".
"There was no act of violence against Samir Hajije at the Bourse du Travail on Friday evening. He was not the victim of any aggression. We regret that this individual misled the mayor of Toulouse in order to incite him to attack the CGT," the CGT said in a statement released on Sunday. For its part, the Toulouse town hall declared that it would react "after consulting the police report." However, the case risks taking on a political turn, when we know that the Toulouse town hall and the CGT are clashing over the occupation of the Bourse du Travail.
