Todd Snyder’s ’Nomad Collection’ Blends Moroccan Flair with 1950s Tangier Style

American designer Todd Snyder was inspired by the fusion of fashion notes from the 1950s in Tangier for his Spring/Summer 2023 collection titled Nomad Collection.
Nomad Collection started from a Tuareg rug from Morocco, a traditional floor covering made of reed, palm and camel leather to create geometric patterns. This new collection from the Todd Snyder brand includes pieces such as crocheted tunics, Ikat printed tops, macramé pieces and a Tuareg rug-inspired shirt jacket, in an earthy color palette and desert-inspired patterns, a relaxed pleated pant with a bure shirt jacket, etc.
"I was looking at 1950s photographs of Tangier and was inspired by the way American expats mixed their gentlemen’s clothing with bohemian garments," Todd Snyder told Women’s Wear Daily. "These artists and writers were seekers, nomads ’no more belonging to one place than another’ as Paul Bowles wrote in ’Under The Sheltering Sky’."
