Teen's Disappearance Remains Unsolved After 18 Months, Parents Still Searching

Samira and Mahi Abdelaoui, Wissem’s parents, have still not found their daughter who disappeared on July 31, 2019, and who could have blown out her 18 candles with them on February 13. Despite unsuccessful searches in the Île-de-France region, they have not given up hope.

On July 31, 2019, the then 16-year-old girl was going to her apprenticeship site in Villabé. Since that day, she has not given any sign of life. The alert about her disappearance came from her boss, who had noted her absence from her post. The teenager was expected at Body minute. According to the investigations, she and a boy living in Bezons had met on the day of her disappearance.

All the attempts and searches of her parents, the Argenteuil (Val-d’Oise) Police Station, and the Evry-Courcouronnes Police Office to find her have so far been unsuccessful. The investigators are now conducting the investigations in secret. "The investigation is proceeding meticulously, explains Arash Derambarsh, the lawyer for Samira and Mahi. The investigating judge is very involved and this is one of her priority cases." Although Wissem has already reached the age of majority, she is still listed in the file of missing persons because this case is in the hands of an investigating judge.

Strangers have contacted Samira, Wissem’s mother. Last November, she received a call at night. The caller gave her an address where the young girl would be in Barbès, Paris (18th). Without verifying the information, Mahi, the father, went to the indicated place. "I turned from midnight to three in the morning," he says. The next day, he went back there with a friend. But no trace of Wissem, reports Le Parisien. The couple has received several similar calls. These are only false leads.

Samira and Mahi have not given up hope, however. "We have to hold on," insists Samira. For our two other children. It happens in some families that on the occasion of a disappearance, people separate. They blame each other. We, we keep hope. And I will never abandon Wissem. If I have to go to the other end of France to find her, I will go."
