Tata Advanced Systems takes it up a notch: the military "Made in Morocco" expands
The strategic partnership between Rabat and the Indian defense giant is accelerating. After the industrialization of the WhAP 8x8 combat vehicle, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has announced the development of a new platform: the LAMV, a light tactical armored vehicle whose commercial production is imminent.
The Moroccan military industry is taking a new step forward. The Indian company Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has confirmed the expansion of its range of products manufactured in the Kingdom with the launch of the "Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle" (LAMV).
This new 4x4 vehicle, described as a highly mobile tactical platform, is designed for frontline missions requiring a rapid response. According to the manufacturer, the project has reached a stage of "advanced industrial maturity", paving the way for commercial production in the short term.
This announcement comes in the wake of the success of the TASM (TATA Advanced Systems Morocco) industrial unit, located in the Benslimane/Berrechid region. The result of a partnership with the National Defense Administration, this plant, which aims for a capacity of 100 vehicles per year, is already assembling the WhAP 8x8, an amphibious infantry combat vehicle.
The initial order book provides for the delivery of more than 400 WhAP units, 150 of which are destined for the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). The project, which is expected to generate 340 direct and indirect jobs, aims to increase the local integration rate from 35% at startup to 50% in the long term, despite the logistical challenges related to the supply of specialized steel mentioned by industry experts.
