Tangier Bank Manager Arrested in $240,000 Embezzlement Case

Arrested on Tuesday by the judicial police, he is suspected of having dipped into the bank’s coffers, for an amount of 2.44 million dirhams.

Financial controllers, mandated by the bank’s headquarters in Rabat, had sounded the alarm. Their checks had revealed suspicious fund movements, casting a shadow over the management of the agency. The internal investigation quickly targeted an employee.

Placed in custody at the Tangier police headquarters, the man will have to explain himself. He will soon be brought before the public prosecutor’s office of the court specialized in financial crimes, in Rabat.
