Tanger Airport’s Billion-Dirham Expansion to Double Capacity, Boost Morocco’s Aviation Hub Status

The expansion project of Tanger Ibn Battouta International Airport will enter its active phase in the coming days. The National Airports Office (ONDA) has just awarded this contract to a Moroccan group composed of four companies.
As part of this project, an additional area of 55,000 square meters will be developed, which will double the airport’s capacity to 7 million passengers per year.
With a total cost of approximately 1.9 billion dirhams, the Tanger airport expansion project should help improve the quality of logistics services and passenger reception, while strengthening Tanger’s position as a regional and international hub in the fields of investment, trade and tourism.
This project is part of ONDA’s strategy to modernize Moroccan airport infrastructure and strengthen the kingdom’s competitiveness in the aviation and travel sectors.
The project takes into account environmental and sustainable development aspects, the objective being to equip the airport with facilities that meet the comfort, safety and quality requirements for both passengers and airlines.
