Suspected Teen Killer Arrested at Airport Fleeing to Morocco After Release

While trying to fly to Morocco, the reckless driver who killed a teenager in Montpellier was arrested on Thursday, August 25, and then reincarcerated. This attempted escape came two days after his release under judicial supervision.
The arrest took place on Thursday at Marignane airport. It was the air and border police officers who apprehended the reckless driver who had run over and killed Adam, a young boy on August 21, 2021, as he was about to board a plane for Morocco, reports Midi Libre. After his arrest, he was taken into custody and presented before the judge of liberties and detention (JLD) to discuss the revocation of his judicial supervision. He is incarcerated again. The 35-year-old Montpellier resident had been released on August 22, following a judicial oversight. But he was under an obligation to report to the Béziers police station, an obligation he had tried to violate.
"I had advised my client to respect his judicial supervision. On my side, I never made a request for the release of my client. He was released due to negligence," says Marc Gallix, the reckless driver’s lawyer. During his appearance before the judge of liberties and detention, the accused claimed he had no "intention of fleeing his judicial responsibilities" and justified his trip to Morocco by the need to seek money to live.
These legal troubles began on August 21, 2021, following a fatal accident that occurred on Avenue de Monsieur-Teste in Montpellier. That day, he was driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.9 g. His car had fatally hit Adam, 9, as he was on the sidewalk with his mother and 8-year-old sister. The latter had sustained head and leg injuries. Indicted by an investigating judge for involuntary homicide and aggravated bodily harm, the driver had been placed in pre-trial detention.
