Suspect in Major Cannabis Delivery Ring Arrested at Paris Airport

Youssef, a 45-year-old Moroccan, was arrested last week as he got off a plane at Orly airport (Val-de-Marne), after returning from Morocco. This delivery man is part of the home delivery network for cannabis herb and resin, which started its activities in Villejuif six years ago.
The defendant was arrested on March 26 for his alleged involvement in the Caliweed case. Youssef had managed to escape the investigators of the judicial police department of the Val-de-Marne during the operation carried out on June 5 last year in Paris and the suburbs. "This new branch of the network had been in the sights of the law enforcement agencies since March 12, 2024 and after many hours of surveillance, this operation had made it possible to arrest five suspects. The searches, carried out in particular in the 19th arrondissement of the capital and in Savigny-le-Temple (Seine-et-Marne), had made it possible to seize 180 kg of cannabis," recalls a source close to the case with Le Parisien.
Youssef is therefore the sixth suspect arrested in this case. After his arrest, he was placed in police custody at the judicial police (PJ) premises in Créteil. The Moroccan "confessed without difficulty," says a source close to the case. According to his statements, he was recruited as a delivery man in response to a job offer from the "Caliweed 94 800" group on Telegram. "During his recruitment, he had provided an identity document and proof of address as always required by this home delivery company," informs the same source.
He received each night via an encrypted messaging service, a list of customers to serve. He had to pick up the goods (bags containing the drugs as well as the customers’ contact details) in the parking lot of a shopping center and proceed with the deliveries. Youssef admitted that he delivered fifteen to twenty customers per day, in the departments of Val-de-Marne, Essonne and Seine-et-Marne. At the end of his round, he found himself with 3,000 or even 5,000 euros per day that he handed over to a collector. The Moroccan received 15 euros per delivery and earned 4,500 euros per month. He says he embarked on this illegal activity to quickly earn money and "get his head above water".
After 48 hours of police custody, Youssef was indicted and placed in detention. The Caliweed network is one of the major cannabis trafficking networks in Paris and the suburbs. The police began monitoring this network in 2019. At the time, the leaders of the criminal organization were running a Villejuif drug dealing point. The head of the network, Anas C. alias "the Big One", who took refuge in Morocco, was sentenced in absentia in Paris in December 2024 to ten years in prison with an arrest warrant.
