New Suspect Arrested in Antwerp Girl’s Murder Investigation

The Federal Judicial Police (FJP) of Antwerp has arrested a new suspect as part of the investigation into the murder of Firdaous, the 11-year-old girl killed by a bullet in January 2023, at the home of her parents in Merksem.
During a new search as part of the investigation into the murder of Firdaous, the Federal Judicial Police (FJP) of Antwerp last Friday arrested Jorn B., a 28-year-old taxi driver from Rumst. He is one of the acquaintances of Daniëlle R. de Putte, the 53-year-old woman already known to the police, arrested last February and incarcerated. The DNA of the fifty-year-old woman was identified on one of the cartridges found near the house of the Moroccan teenager.
"A 28-year-old man from Rumst has also been arrested," confirms Kristof Aerts, spokesperson for the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office. "As part of the ongoing judicial investigation, he is suspected of potentially retrieving the weapon used from the 53-year-old woman in Putte. He would have acted as an intermediary." Suspected of the murder of little Firdaous and the attempted triple murder on the members of her family, this taxi driver was incarcerated after his appearance before the investigating judge on Saturday.
In January 2023, Firdaous was at the table with her father and her two sisters in the garage of their house in Merksem when it was sprayed with bullets. One of them hit the teenager who died on the spot. The other family members were slightly injured. The family of the 11-year-old girl, and mainly her uncle, Othman El B., is well known in the Antwerp drug scene.
