Survey: Nearly Half of Moroccan Youth Seek to Emigrate Amid Regional Trend

Nearly half of the young people in the Maghreb and Middle East countries, including Morocco, want to leave their country for more promising destinations. This is the result of the survey conducted by the ASDA’A BCW agency and published by Radio France Internationale.
The phenomenon of immigration is still attracting a lot of people, especially among the youth. Alongside Moroccans, Tunisians and Algerians represent a significant percentage of candidates for immigration, the survey reveals.
Unemployment and corruption are some of the reasons that push these young people to want to leave their country. The survey, conducted among 4,000 young people, ranks the countries most affected by the phenomenon in the following order: Lebanon with 77% of the country’s young people, Libya, Yemen, Iraq and the Palestinian territories.
The United Arab Emirates, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany are the destinations coveted by these young people, as they are seen as the ones offering the most job opportunities in the world. Although France is not part of these dream countries, it remains the favorite destination of Moroccans.
