Summer Travel Plans in Limbo: EU Official Warns Against Trips to Morocco and Beyond

European Commissioner Didier Reynders has stated that it will not be possible for Belgians to spend the summer holidays in Morocco or other countries. He fears that tourists will relive the repatriation sequence.
When asked about the possibility for Belgians to enjoy the beautiful beaches abroad, Didier Reynders replies: "this will largely depend on one country to another. When I see the evolution of the decisions taken today, I have the impression that we are closer to 100% of holidays within the country".
The guest of "C’est pas tous les jours dimanche" on RTL-TVi will specify that "it will depend on the Belgian decision, but also on the decision of the possible host country. There, I would say we are around 50 to 60% chances."
According to the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, this will always be decided based on health factors. "Is the situation going to continue to improve, as we see in a number of countries?", he wonders.
His wish, he will say, is that tourists have enough information on their travel and stay conditions. "We are not sure of the situation in many regions around the world. And also, we don’t want to relive the repatriation sequence [...] that we experienced during this wave of contamination," concludes Didier Reynders.
