Sudanese Migrant Drowns in Paris Canal, Hundreds Living in Makeshift Camp

A Sudanese migrant drowned in a canal in Aubervilliers near Paris. The circumstances of this tragedy remain unknown.
There are more than 800 migrants living on the banks of this canal, in tents for several weeks. Among them, a Sudanese man died under circumstances that have not yet been clarified. "the man fell into the water in the Saint-Denis canal under circumstances that remain to be clarified and his body was found on Friday morning," reports the AFP.
For the moment, the identity and age of the migrant are not known. And all efforts to obtain information from the other migrants have been in vain.
"The camps that were formed during the lockdown have been destroyed several times by the police, but have reconstituted themselves each time and the number has only been increasing for about a month," explains Philippe Caro, a volunteer at Solidarité migrants Wilson.
